You are being called toward atmosphere, beauty, emotional texture, sensory immersion, mystery, and spaciousness. Your nervous system may be longing to soften, wander, feel, and remember how to inhabit life more poetically.

The Atmospheric Soul

“Not all those who wander are lost…”

We had entered Islands of Adventure precisely 30 minutes before park close. The crowds were gone and the park was quiet. We were cloaked in darkness. But it didn’t matter. I could navigate us with my eyes closed… or so I thought.

There is one troubling section of Islands of Adventure where Toon Lagoon meets Skull Island where it is extremely easy to take a wrong turn.

To this day, I have to orient myself when I’m at this junction.

Turn right (which is more like straight ahead), and you will find yourself in a winding labyrinth down by the Lagoon.

Veer slightly left (which is supposed to be straight), and you’ll enter Skull Island.

Well, we were running through the dark… Or rather, I was running, pushing Camilla and Kroy in a jogging stroller (who were 9 and 5 at the time), and I pushed us right into the labyrinth.

So now we’re running, running, pushing ourselves deeper and deeper into the maze. The kids were screaming in the fun kind of scared way. Like when you go to a haunted house and you know you aren’t actually in danger, but you’re still scared…
